CHENEY BROTHERS ANNOUNCE GROWTH PLANS FOR IREDELL COUNTY

Statesville, NC – Cheney Brothers, Inc. plans to double the size of their Statesville, NC operation by building an additional 160,000 square feet.  Cheney Brothers, Inc. expects to hire 105 full-time jobs, paying an average wage of $23.10 per hour.  Once the expansion is complete, the investment is anticipated to be $24 million.  Cheney Brothers, Inc.’s current facility is 98,000 square feet and located at 195 Business Park Drive, in the Statesville Business & Industrial Park.

Cheney Brothers, Inc. is a leading food service distributor based in Riviera Beach, Florida and a fourth-generation family owned company founded in 1925.  Cheney Brothers, Inc.’s primary locations were in Florida until their 2016 purchase of Pate Dawson, allowing them to expand their footprint to have three North Carolina sites; Statesville, Goldsboro and Greensboro, NC.

“The City of Statesville welcomes Cheney Brothers to the community.  This planned expansion shows Cheney Brothers’ strong commitment to our community and we are pleased to assist them to add jobs and investment,” said Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh. “The City and County joined together on investing in the Statesville Business Park and the Cheney Brothers announcement is the result of that work paying off for the community.”

The Statesville City Council and Iredell County Board of Commissioners approved an Industrial Incentive Grant for Cheney Brothers, Inc. in open session in early November, under the project name Elsa.

“Statesville had just the right climate for this expansion,” said Byron Russell, CEO/Chairman of the Board at Cheney Brothers, Inc. “The pro-business attitude of the leadership and the available workforce, fortified the decision to select this facility.”

“The Iredell County Board of Commissioners is excited about the significant $24 million-dollar expansion planned by Cheney Brothers, Inc. of their Statesville facility.  Cheney Brothers will bring 105 additional unique career employment opportunities to Iredell County to support the over $1 billion dollars in annual sales generated by this “soup to nuts” supplier of food, equipment and services to the hospitality industry throughout the world,” said James Mallory, Iredell County Commission Chairman.

AM King, Charlotte based contractor, will be building the addition.
